Rivers, mangroves, lakes, lagoons and open sea. Nobody understands or has a connection as personal and attached to these environments as fishermen. They depend on each of the resources of these places to survive, however they are fragile ecosystems and due to factors of climate change, excessive fishing by large industries, bad practices, pollution and other situations, artisanal fishermen have been in need to seek job opportunities outside their communities and work areas.
Currently we have managed to establish low impact activities of community tourism, related to research and conservation of each of these ecosystems. Promoting good practices and creating job opportunities for fishermen in different regions of Guatemala and Belize.
